  • Sept. 1, 2009 CITIZEN RIGHTS EHNANCED at Sept. 1 Commission Meeting !
  • By a 3-2 vote (Bob Anderson and Kelly Mallette being the minority vote "against" enhancing public rights), the majority confirmed that the village will now start placing citizen speaking time as a requirement in ALL agenda for boards and committee meetings posted in the village. Hence, the initial undermining of Citizen Rights on July 29 (see below) was reversed. Send your thanks to Commissioners Morris, Bernard and Mayor Hornbuckle who supported your right to be heard.

  • July 29, 2009: CITIZEN RIGHTS UNDERMINED....
  • Commissioner Mallette leads talk and vote that undermines the Citizen's Bill of Rights of our Charter Government, when she says it should be up to the Mayor to decide if the public should be allowed to speak on agenda items. Vote 4 - 1, with four commissioners voting in favor of arbitrary powers in the Mayor to decide if citizen comments are permitted regarding items on the agenda.        (SEE BLOG FOR MORE COMMENTARY).

  • January - August, 2009: THREAT TO TAXPAYER AND OUR TREES...
  • Mr. Dan Keys, Chair of the Parks & Parkways Committee, an appointee of Commissioner Bob Anderson, leads effort to expand the number of oak trees in the Village against recommendations of urban forestry experts and the State funded tree inventory of the Village. Ignoring the report might result in loss of our oaks to disease and excessive cost to Village taxpayers for future possible removal of over 1/3 of our trees in the village.                                  (SEE BLOG FOR MORE COMMENTARY)
